Pakistan dominates India’s political rhetoric, defence strategy, foreign policy, news channels and print media. Antagonism towards Pakistan is widely confused as an expression of patriotism. While some of this may be explained by historical and cultural factors, it increasingly seems odd considering India now has an economy that is over 10 times bigger and armed forces more than 5 times larger than Pakistan’s.
As India espouses to become a global power and have a seat in global governance bodies, how does one explain its continued focus on its neighbor?
